Erin Cooks is the featured site of the week here on Lookery.
While many readers think that only big sites need and benefit from our audience analytic services, here is proof positive that a simple blog has great data. As we have tried to relay to everyone we talk with about why we do what we do, a site like this one is more evidence without us having to say a word. The data that is out there about your audience is something you should want to know more about!
First off, Erin Cooks is as described in the site owner’s description – Erin Cooks is a blog focused on food, wine, and cooking that prides itself on providing eye catching images and amusing personal anecdotes.
We really can’t describe it any better than how the site owner has described it. As we were looking over the site to write about it, the very top blog post pretty much meets everything that description line said. Raised Donuts: Raising the roof with mom
Now my mom and I have very different kitchen styles. I’m usually a very meticulous, clean-as-you-go … When I started pointing out that there were actual directions to the recipe, not to mention a proper bread machine layering technique that we were completely ignoring, she essentially told me that she’d been using bread machines since Noah brought them over on the ark, and to please chill out. So for once in my life I did.
The best thing about putting a humorous spin into a cooking experience is that it usually will help to resonate across all ages.
Clearly this is true as shown in the above graphic. There is one thing that will help you build an even bigger audience, and that is how people find your site via your keywords (KW). It appears this site owner is already attracting the core audience it would like to have.
That KW list made me hungry!
When you have a blog that is written in English, chances are even though it’s a universal topic such as cooking, you’ll still have a very dominate English reading audience.
No big surprise there, but the one thing that did surprise us was the gender demographic. This writer personally thought that it would be closer to 50/50, but it seems that this site has a 70/30 female audience following.
Maybe after this post, that demographic will change.
Becoming part of the hottest network going into 2009 is very simple to do. Whether you are a big site with millions of page views daily or a small blog that is passionate about what you love to do, you are only a sign up away from learning more about your audience.
