AWS SimpleDB: Linda, I Missed Ya

I spent the entire decade of the 1990s working on technologies that were way ahead of their time. Now that I’ve been teamed up with Oren for seven years, things are better.
In 1999, I helped put together a UCG/RSS search startup [semi-functional WayBack Machine page], which was five-ish years ahead of commercial viability. I ran [what we hoped was] a camera phone software startup in 1997 that was about eight years ahead. However, Torque Systems, which was focused on C-Linda supercomputing when I joined in 1992, takes the cake. AWS SimpleDB shows that to be sixteen years early. Oh my.
People wonder why I’ve become such a PITA about focusing on tactics over strategy, and avoiding complexity in all its forms. Now you know.
