Ad Formats for Facebook Apps

As with everything we do at Lookery, we start by listening to the Facebook application publishers and then balance their needs against what our marketing clients want. The publishers started out asking for 120×90 (example by Charter Advertiser LendingClub in right-hand column) and 468×60 (Ford “Boredom Hurts” example placed by Pheedo) sizes from the IAB list we offered, and a marketer requested 160×600. At first, I expected no one would run that large tower. but I was pleasantly wrong. We have healthy supply and demand for all three now, and it’s time to think about additional formats.
So, far we’re trying to stick to standardized formats, which could become a problem. Jeremy is correct in that increased innovation in online marketing is driving up costs and with what he calls the The Prisoner’s Dilemma in online advertising. Eventually, we’ll all end up with standards for social media ads, but we could be in a very expensive business in the meantime.
In terms of additional formats, I’ve heard the most requests for 300×25o, so we’ll start soliciting publishers and marketers for it in the next week or two. Please let us know what other sorts of ads would suit your need.
